We are a husband-and-wife team who both have had a passion for art for many years. Catherine has worked with glass (fused, mosaic and stained) for several years and is currently focusing on glass fusing. Her love of gardening has inspired her to create glass objects that can be enjoyed in potted plants and garden beds. John has been a woodworker for decades and in the past few years has focused on wood turning. He initially learned to turn bowls and has evolved toward developing interesting spindle-turned objects such as boxes, tower tops, flowers and vases. Recently, we have worked together to wed these media, creating objects that showcase both the richness of wood and the beauty of glass, while also continuing to pursue our crafts individually. This is how we became Shards & Shavings.
